CI UDSM

The Confucius Institute at UDSM (CI-UDSM) was established in 2013 under the Agreement between UDSM and the Confucius Institute Headquarters at Hanban and Zhejiang Normal University. Under the Agreement between the two institutions, UDSM is mandated to run Chinese studies on Campus and elsewhere in the country. Subsequently, CI-UDSM has been running various degree and non-degree programs in Dar es Salaam and extending the service to other cities and institutions in the country. The main objectives of CI-UDSM are to meet the Tanzania’s growing need of understanding Chinese language, culture, technology and skills and to increase mutual understanding among the peoples of China and Tanzania. CI-UDSM also acts as a platform for socio-political and economic exchanges and collaborations between China and Tanzania. In addition, CI will stimulate research on various aspects of Sino-Tanzania relations; including history, education, science and technology. Besides, CI-UDSM is linking the University students and companies in Tanzania.   The program and courses offered include Degree Program, Diploma in Chinese language, Chinese language short courses, Elective courses, Summer Camp to China, Hosting the Chinese language Proficiency Tests (HSK and HSKK) and providing scholarships to study Chinese language in China to students with prescribed qualifications.   Confucius Institute conducts Chinese language courses in the following academic institutes: University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM Mwalimu JK Nyerere Campus),  Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Ardhi University, Mozambique-Tanzania Centre For Foreign Relations (CFR), Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy (Dar es Salaam), Tanzania Public Service College(TPSC), Mkwawa University College of Education (Iringa), Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU), Institute of Accountancy Arusha(Arusha), Sangu Secondary School (Mbeya), St. Augustine University (Mwanza), Baobab High School, Atlas Secondary School, St. Mathew High School (Coastal Region), St. Christina Girls Secondary School (Tanga), King David Primary and Secondary School (Mtwara), Nyangao Secondary School(Lindi) and J.W Bukanga High School(Musoma)
